Beauty tips for the Active Girl.

You know me…..I LOVE working out and getting my sweat on. But I do still like to look good, and most importantly have healthy skin.

By no means am I anything of a makeup guru! But I am very active and do workout A LOT, and I have learned how to avoid looking like a complete mess without having to the ditch the make up. Especially for those summer days (soon approaching!) where we’re out and about, and totally have the right to look and feel great!

Always opt for a pair of shades and an iced Coffee 😉

So I thought I’d share my simple beauty tips on how to workout and still look good 🙂 Without a melting face!

Hydrated Skin:
No 1 rule –> Always keep your skin hydrated. We sweat a lot right?? So it’s even more important to replace the moisture lost when sweating. Use your favorite moisturiser every morning and night. Personally I use Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser (dry/sensitive) as I have both dry and sensitive skin.

Foundation is not our friend: (When it comes to working out!)
Clogging up your pores with heavy foundation is really not going to help your skin when you sweat. A mixture of foundation, sweat, heat and open pores will only cause possible breakouts and blackheads. Let alone a smeary face 😀 I use a few dabs of light concealer where I need it, and a lightweight tinted moisturiser (with SPF)  or BB cream. At the moment I am using Nivea tinted moisturiser day cream. But I am also on the lookout for a non oil-based BB cream.

Eyes: Keep it natural.
Just use light/natural shades for your eyes if you feel the need for a little colour. I personally have very pale skin and I don’t like the look of my eyes completely care. So I just use shimmery shades of white/light brown which are hardly noticeable, but make all the difference to me.

Mascara:
Since when does mascara even run when you sweat??? Yes, I get that if you’re balling your eyes out of get caught in a downpour, non waterproof mascara runs like a good’un. But in all my sweaty betty years I’ve never had a problem. Just don’t use it on your lower lashes…quite simple. I don’t even use water proof mascara. Because I’ve never had a problem, I like to make my lashes my most prominent feature in my makeup regime although I’m still on the search for my favorite mascara as I’ve not yet found THE ONE that’s totally amazing. If anyone has any recommendations let me know!

Brows:
You may not need to touch your brows, but if your like me and have really light ones then filling them in helps frame my face nicely. I just use a small (Note: SMALL) amount of pencil and filler to give them a darker shade.

Braids:
Now when it comes to hair…. You can guarantee a messy bun or pony tail are the way forward for us gym chicks. Sod wasting time making it look pretty when it gets chucked up and becomes a sweaty mob every evening… Sorry but its true!  BRAIDS are so much prettier than normal ponytails and they keep your hair at bay! Defo recommended 🙂

Keeping makeup lightweight and natural is definitely the best way to go if your super active. And it works well for the summer months coming up where we are out and about in the sunshine and don’t have to worry about a face melt.

Go out, be active and be most of all be confident! Natural looks are way more attractive anyway 🙂 If you have any comments or recommendations, please feel free to leave a comment.

Love, E xx
